Taiwanese 3D chief director Charlie Chu is one of the first 3D stereoscopic film directors in Taiwan. In 2002, the doctor found a large, fist-sized tumor in his brain, and diagnosed that he only had six months of life left. He endured a 28-hour long surgery to remove the tumor, and survived the ordeal with the hearing loss in his left ear. This undoubtedly has a huge impact on the filmmaker. After the brain surgery, Charlie still had to face numerous obstacles in his life. He chose to face these challenges like a fighter.

Charlie concentrated his life’s passion in 3D technology by researching innovative ways to advance in this field. In 2013, his hard work led him to an opportunity to partner with famed director Ang Lee in the documentary “3D Taiwan". The project earned him his first Creative Arts Award, the equivalent of 3D Academy Award. His visually appealing and inspiring works have earned accolades among his fans as well as his peers.
