CHING-WANG SHAO // Archeologist

Ching-wang Shao’s passion for research lies in the conservation of Taiwan’s cultural heritages, historic monuments, antiquities, and other relics.

Shao was on Academia Sinica’s Institute of History and Philosophy’s archeology team. He participated in the excavation of Shisanhang, a Taiwanese Iron Age site. Using modern facial reconstruction methods, he brought the bone fragments to life.

Later, in the mountains of Pingdong, he came across remnants of stone-carving, an art long lost in Taiwan. These carvings provide an important clue to the residents of prehistoric Taiwan. His current focus is on using modern techniques to bring antiquities to life.
