Duncan was diagnosed with a rare congenital bone disorder at birth. When he was four years old, the disease began to consume him and he was forced to withdraw from school at the age of eight. His supposedly elementary school years were replaced by countless trips to the hospital for surgeries and treatments. When Duncan turned 18, he suffered a bone fracture accident that forced him to be bedridden for the next five years.
When Duncan turned 23, he decided to set himself free by undergoing leg amputation surgery. After this surgery, he was able to leave his bed and lead a normal life.
At age 25, Duncan joined a church choir and found his gift for singing. His first live performance was in the Taipei Fubon Bank Artistic Award for Disabled Talents. Duncan won second place in the First Annual Wan Hai Charity Foundation Talent Competition for Disabled. Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture (Republic of China) also presented Duncan with the Award for Excellence in the 10th Literary and Artistic Award for Disabled Talents.
Duncan is currently a singer, performer, and a life coach. He serves as the ambassador for Taiwan Foundation for Rare Disorders. He shares his life story with folks all over Taiwan.
